What to expect during the Langtang Valley trek for 7 days?

You will pass through lush hills and be able to see snow-capped mountains on the short Langtang Valley trek. Following a beautiful trail via rhododendron forests and picturesque villages, trek to Kyanjin Gompa. Syabrubesi is the starting point of the trek. From here, you will trek for three days to reach Kyanjin Gompa.

On the way, spend the night at Lama Hotel and Langtang Village. There are many stupas, chortens, mani walls, and prayer flags all around the route. You will also navigate a landslide-prone area and cross-hanging bridges over the Langtang river. Kyanjing Gompa is the last settlement in the Langtang Valley.

For your final hike, you will walk up to Tserko Ri or Kyanjin Ri. Both of these are viewpoints and offer stunning sunrises. The short Langtang Valley trek starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. It is a small town and gateway to the Langtang region. You will leave Syabrubesi after a delicious breakfast. Today is your first day of trekking. The trail gradually continues via uneven trails alongside the lush Himalayan foothills. You will descend to the Bhote Kosi river and trek on a rugged track. Further, walk along the Langtang Khola to Bamboo. From here, trek through rhododendron forests to Rimche and ascend to Lama Hotel.

From Lama Hotel, the trail ascends to the Langtang village. On the way, you will follow the Langtang river and also cross it a few times using suspension bridges. The trail goes through forests. Witness beautiful panoramas of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung while trekking.

At Ghoda Tabela, you will take a lunch break. From here, you will trek, registering the permits at the police check post. Cross the east side of the Langtang river and keep trekking past stupas and mani walls to Langtang Village.

Today, you will reach the highest settlement on this trek. From Langtang village, follow an uphill steep route and trek via forests. The forests soon open up to meadows and pass by rugged hillsides to Kyanjin Gompa. On the way, witness stunning mountain views and trek past mani walls, stupas, and prayer wheels.

Langtang Valley short trek permit

The Langtang Valley short trek requires two permits: the TIMS Card and the Langtang National Park entry permit. Like all of our packages, the permit fees are covered in the package cost. Only one entry is allowed in both permits, and they are non-refundable.

Guide and porter during the Langtang short trek

Trek with a local mountain guide during the Langtang Valley short trek. As per the group size, there will be porters to carry your duffel bags. Trekkers only carry a daypack (under 5 kg). Trekking without a guide is not allowed in the Langtang region from April 1, 2023.

With us, you will get the most friendly and experienced trek guide. They are well-trained for leading groups in the Himalayas and also carry many years of trekking experience. You will have a great trekking experience in their presence.

Porters carry duffel bags for two trekkers. Keep the weight below 10 kg (each trekker). At the end of the trek, if you are happy with the service of guide and porter, tip them. 15% of the package cost is a good amount, or you can tip as per your wish.

What is the best time to do the Langtang Valley short trek?

The best time to do the Langtang Valley short trek is March to May and late September to November. These months offer favorable weather and climate with lush vegetation and stunning mountain views. The days are clear, bright, and long, with less humidity or precipitation chance.

You can also do the Langtang Valley short trek in the winter season, from December to February. The climate is very cold, and the trails are covered with snow, so you have to be extra careful. Similarly, June to August is one of the worst times for trekking in the Langtang region because of slippery trails.

Is travel insurance needed for the Short Langtang Valley trek?

It is better to have travel insurance covering emergency helicopter evacuation for the Langtang Valley short trek. You never know what's going to happen, especially in the Himalayas, so it is always best to be prepared. Get well-covered insurance and give us a copy of it.

Langtang Valley short trek difficulty

The Langtang short trek is moderately difficult. The trail involves trekking through dense forests and meadows. You will trek around 55 kilometers during the trek. Each day, 10 to 12 kilometers of walking is required. The trail ascends and descends constantly, so good stamina is needed.

From Syabrubesi to Tserko Ri, the terrain and climate vary a lot. With the progress of the trail, you will come across steep sections and landslide debris. Trekking to Tserko Ri is a bit tough because of the rocky route and high altitude. However, with proper preparations, you can do the Langtang Valley short trek smoothly.

What is the altitude Sickness risk on this trek? How do avoid it during the Langtang Valley trek?

Altitude sickness, also known as acute mountain sickness, is a high-altitude travel illness. It happens if your body sees a drastic change in elevation without acclimatizing. However, our Langtang Valley short trek itinerary is well-curated and provides ample time to acclimatize as the trekkers gradually ascend to Kyangin Gompa.

Compared to most of the treks in Nepal, the risk of altitude sickness is quite low during the Langtang Valley short trek.
