Tibet Group Visa (TGV)
All travelers heading to Tibet from Nepal must secure a Tibet Group Visa (TGV), facilitated by a licensed tour operator in Kathmandu. To ensure smooth visa processing, travelers are advised to arrive in Kathmandu at least six working days before their departure to Tibet.
Important Guidelines for Travelers
Foreign Nationals and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
- Nepal Entry Requirements
Foreign nationals and NRIs must carry a valid passport and obtain a visa to enter Nepal. Nepal offers a visa-on-arrival facility at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu upon submission of required documents and visa fees.
- Tibet/China Entry Requirements
To visit the Kailash region in Tibet, travelers must have:
- A valid passport.
- A Tibet Group Visa (TGV).
- Special permits for the Kailash region, arranged by the tour operator.
Travel Insurance
Carrying comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all pilgrims. The insurance must cover the entire duration of the yatra, including high-altitude trekking in the Kailash region. Please note that travel insurance is not included in our package and is the responsibility of the traveler to arrange.
Medical Certificate
Travelers are required to present a medical fitness certificate issued by their doctor. This certificate must confirm their ability to undertake high-altitude trekking, as the journey involves reaching altitudes above 15,000 feet. Regulus Nepal does not assume responsibility for medical issues during the trip.
Clothing Recommendations
Comfortable and warm clothing is essential due to varying weather conditions. Consider the following:
- Casual Wear: Comfortable walking shoes, lightweight clothing for daytime.
- Warm Wear: Jackets, thermal layers, gloves, hats, and scarves for cold mornings and nights.
- Prohibited Attire: Indian women are advised not to wear saris for practicality during the yatra.
- Bring essential personal items, including toiletries, medicines, a first-aid kit, and any unique necessities that may not be available locally.

- Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol and smoking.
- Rest and avoid overexertion.
- Consult your physician about Diamox for altitude sickness prevention.
Regulus Nepal ensures a two-night stay in Kayrong (2,700m) for acclimatization before ascending to higher altitudes. A Gamow Bag is available for emergencies.
